Terms of Service

Last updated 18 August 2026. This is a working draft — it has not yet received legal review, and the governing-law/jurisdiction section below is marked as such. By using Casebook, you agree to the terms below.

Educational use only

Casebook is a training tool for psychology students, built by The Ego Studio. It simulates patients using AI and is not real therapy, medical advice, or a substitute for licensed clinical supervision. Nothing generated by Casebook — including the simulated patient’s responses or the automated assessments of your technique — should be treated as clinical guidance for a real patient, or as academic certification of your competence.

Casebook is not an emergency service. If you or someone you know is in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline (in India: Tele-MANAS 14416, iCall 9152987821, or the Vandrevala Foundation helpline 1860-2662-345) immediately.

Who can use Casebook

You must be 18 or older, or using Casebook under the supervision of your psychology program or institution, to create an account.

Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity under it. Accounts are for a single individual — please don’t share your login with anyone else. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Casebook to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content, or to abuse the simulation for a purpose other than practicing clinical conversation;
  • attempt to scrape, extract, or reverse engineer the underlying models or service;
  • share your account or login credentials with anyone else;
  • upload, paste, or otherwise submit real patient information or real clinical case data into Casebook. Casebook’s scenarios are entirely fictional, and the service is not built or authorized to handle real patient records — even if a future feature accepts uploaded case files, that feature is for fictional/de-identified training material only, never real patient data; or
  • interfere with other users’ access to the service.

AI-generated content

The simulated patients you talk to, and the assessments and feedback generated about your technique, are produced by AI models. They can be wrong, inconsistent, or clinically inaccurate. Turn-by-turn ratings and end-of-session reports are automated feedback intended to help you practice — they are not academic certification, a clinical supervision opinion, or a substitute for your program’s faculty assessment of your competence.

Your content

You own what you say during a session. By using Casebook, you give us permission to process what you say (and the resulting transcripts, assessments, and reports) to run the service for you — generate the patient’s responses, score your technique, and let you review past sessions. Our team can also read your stored sessions to fix bugs, investigate problems you report, and check the patient and the scoring are behaving — see our privacy policy for what that means in practice. We may use de-identified or aggregated session data to improve Casebook’s simulation and assessment quality; we don’t sell your content or use it to train third-party products outside Casebook.

Pricing

Casebook is free to use today. We may introduce paid plans or usage limits in the future; if we do, we’ll give existing users notice before any change that affects them.

No warranty; limitation of liability

Casebook is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind — we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or clinically accurate. The Ego Studio is not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated patient responses, feedback, or assessments produced by the platform, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Termination

You may stop using Casebook and request account deletion at any time (see our Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, including the acceptable-use rules above.

Governing law

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of India. The specific jurisdiction/courts for disputes is not yet finalized and needs to be confirmed by counsel before this is relied on in a dispute.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Casebook changes and as we get proper legal review. We will update the "last updated" date above when we do.
